Highline Multi-Use Building
The Highline in New York City has quickly become a hub for higher design in architecture. For this project, we were to design a residential/commercial building that highlights core, shell, and connectivity. Core refers to the fluid design of good floor plans. These floor plans exemplify efficient space for residents while providing them an opportunity to step outside. Shell refers to the impact that a facade can have on defining a building. The facade features a concrete pattern inspired by Le Corbusier at the commercial level and a Parklex Prodema wooden louver facade at the residential level. Connectivity refers to the circulation of people from the street level of 10th Ave. and at the Highline level. Park spaces at both entry levels and a formal entry court provide smooth transitions from public circulation to circulation within the building.
